A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
The Millen was once part of a coveted Straits-style residential enclave for the rich and wealthy. Originally Northam Road, so named for Northam, Devon in South West England, this locale was favoured by wealthy Europeans and Chinese tycoons. Over time, this stretch of beachfront mansions and grand residences earned the local moniker of ‘Ang Mor Lor’ and later became known as ‘Millionaire’s Row’.
Today, this address of choice has evolved into George Town’s second Central Business District where you will find some of the island’s tallest skyscrapers mixed in amongst the heritage mansions and residences of old.
THE MILLEN MAKEOVER
One of the first hotels on Millionaire’s Row, The Millen’s iconic gold-tinted facade and large suites served as a landmark for generations of families, business travellers and globetrotters passing through Penang.
Building on this legacy, we embarked on an ambitious makeover of this Grande Dame. 2025 marks a new era for The Millen.
